OCTOBER 1934 Air Race Commemorative Lecture Come and see presentations on the experience of the 1920's pioneer flying from England to Australia and a lecture on the history of the 1934 MacRobertson Centenary Air Race. The Museum is proud to participate in the Royal Historical Society's History Week celebrations and opens History week with the weekend celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the 1934 Centenary Air Race.
The museums' rare Douglas DC-2 is being presented in the markings of the KLM DC-2 "Uiver" that came second overall in the race, and first on handicap, and featured in a memorable event when it was forced to land at Aluby when lost in bad weather. A range of 1934 Air Race and memorabilia is on display to join the regular museum display of Australia's rich aviation heritage. On Sunday the Re-inactment Flight DC-3 is on static display for the viewing public on the Airport flight line before departing at 3pm. - 25th October to 1 November

& Member Dinner
DECEMBER Come and see the replica of the 1909 Taylor Glider, the first successful heavier than air flight in Australia. The Australian Gliding Museum, builders of the replica, will be exhibiting other historic gliders on site.
