The Royal Australian Navy Fleet Air Arm (RANFAA) took delivery of 10 EMB326H Macchi aircraft in late 1970 as part of a RAAF order for the type. Serialled N14-073 to N14-087 they were assigned to serve on VC724 Squadron at Nowra Naval Air Station and operated in Fleet support roles and "Lead in Fast Jet" training of pilots going on to the A4 Skyhawk, until the RAN phased the type out and transferred the aircraft to the RAAF on June 30, 1983.
The Museum's Macchi serial N14-075, was delivered on September 10 1970, and served on VC724 Squadron at Nowra Naval Air station in a "Lead in Fast Jet" training role with pilots going on to the A4 Skyhawk aircraft. With the phasing out of the type by the RAN it was transferred to the RAAF on June 30 1983, re-serialled to A7-075 and served in the advanced training role until superceded in that role by the PC-9 and was re-assigned to No 76 Squadron RAAF in a "Lead in Fast Jet" training role of pilots going on to the Mirage aircraft, until being replaced in that role by the BAE Hawk 127 in 2000 and withdrawn from service in 2001.
Aircraft was acquired by the Museum and arrived at Moorabbin on June 6, 2022 and is currently in restoration.
