The collection at Moorabbin Air Museum is one of the largest and most varied in Australia. The collection is based around Aircraft Manufactured or Built in Australia, primarily by the Department of Aircraft Production, Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation and the Government Aircraft Factory.
With the acquisition of the Kiowa Helicopter A17-055 in 2017, the Museum now holds the only complete collection of aircraft manufactured by these companies in Australia.
Due to the availability of space within the Museum's display area and the condition of some of assets not all are on display at the Museum. In some instances the aircraft are on loan to other museums around Australia. Listed below are the Aircraft and the Engines that make up the collection of the Museum, their restoration status and current location.
Restoration projects are limited by space & funding.
In the Future, the Australian Aircraft Restoration Group have plans to move to a larger permanent location so that we are able to move forward restoring many of the air frames awaiting restoration and also to bring the restored aircraft and engines currently out on loan home.
