De havilland gipsy queen engine

Pictureclick on image for larger version
The de Havilland Gipsy Queen was a six cylinder, air cooled, inverted inline engine that was developed from the Gipsy Six, and that in turn was developed from the Gipsy Major by the de Havilland Engine  Company in 1936.
The engine in various variants powered the de Havilland Dove, the Heron and  Dragon Rapide aircraft.
The reliability of the engine made it a popular choice with aircraft manufacturers of the day for powering their products including the Fiat G46, Handley Page Marathon, Miles Mentor and Merchantman, Percival Prentice and Proctor, Short Brothers and Harland Sealand, an amphibian, and Scottish Aviation Pioneer and others.

The engine remained in production from 1936 through to the 1950s by then some 500 units had been built across nineteen variants varying in power output from the 205hp Mk1 through 210hp, to the 240hp Mk30 in1946, to the turbocharged 380hp Mk70-3.
