Bristol Type 171 Sycamore A91-1
The Bristol Sycamore helicopter was designed and built in Britain and first flew in 1947. The RAF and RN used the aircraft in air ambulance, communications and air/sea rescue roles.
The RAAF used two of these helicopters, A91-1 and A91-2 during 1956 for communications work at the Woomera range in South Australia. The RANFAA used seven Sycamores between 1953 and 1965.
The Museums ex-RAAF Sycamore was donated by a civilian operator in 1967 following severe damage being sustained in a crash.
